Ah-Bong (Xu Yong Bang) & his brother Ah-Lap (Xu Jia Li) are policemen, and the show starts off with Ah-Bong chasing a kidnapper..... Ah-Kin (Luo Zi Jian) joins the police force as a trainee inspector, heading Team B ( Ah-Bong's group ). He couldn't get along with the team initially, but later they became very very good friends. His best friend Ah-Hong (Ye Cheng Kang) belongs to the rich Ye family who owns Wah Yip Bank, however, Ah-Hong doen't want to work in the bank. Ah-Kin on the other hand, stays with his sister ( his dad died when he was 12 & his mom left them ). His sister, Ah-Fong (Luo Hui Fang) brought him up & controls his spending very strictly, giving him only HK$70 a day. Then Ah-Kin met Yung Yung (Fang Qiao Rong) who works in Wah Yip Bank, and has a very good impression of her. So coincidentally, Ah-Hong is also interested in her. However the person Yung Yung like is Ah-Kin and they became a couple after some confession in the rain. They had to keep it from Ah-Hong coz he was in hospital nursing the gun shot (accidentally shot by Ah-Kin) and did not know how to break the news to him. Ah-Hong found out eventually and chased them out of the hospital room. All they could do was hug each other crying. It was fortunate that Ah-Hong knew how good they were to him and that he couldn't lose such good friends, so they made up with each other.

Then came the part when Ah-Kin was accused of helping Yung Yung's brother (a temperamental man who smuggles drugs and gambles etc.) and was suspended from his job. He was cleared of the suspicion only after some investigation. When Yung Yung's brother decided to turn over a new leaf, someone sets him up and unfortunately Ah-Kin is the one who catches him. Because of this, her brother is put to jail and Ah-Kin and Yung Yung's relationship turned sour. When her brother was beaten up in jail and died, Yung Yung's family hated Ah-kin to the core, as he was to blame for his death. He and Yung Yung broke up because of that (though they still loved each other deeply).

Ah-Kin then went to England for a 3 year training, and when he returned, he still couldn't forget Yung Yung. He went to see her a few times, but got rejected on every occasion. Actually during these 3 years, Ah-Kin has been helping Yung Yung's brother's girlfriend by sending money to her to care for her baby. Yung Yung's mother was very happy to find out that she had a grandson and her sister also told her that actually they shouldn't blame Ah-Kin for everything. Yung Yung then read all the letters Ah-Kin sent her while in England. After that, she decided that she was unfair to Ah-Kin and forgave him. However, Ah-Hong became very selfish and prevented them from seeing each other. He switched off her pager, leaving Ah-Kin waiting at the pier an entire night, and leaving dejected thinking that Yung Yung hadn't forgiven him. Ah-Hong also sent her to Shanghai for a company project, so that she had no chance at all to be with Ah-Kin. While he was dejected, Ah-Shuet returned from Canada for her friend's wedding. In order for her parents to allow her to stay in Hong Kong, she lied to her parents, having Ah-Kin pose to be her boyfriend. She was rejected by Ah-Lap and Ah-Kin was the only one there for her to confide in. They grew closer and became a couple, kissing in the rain. Yung Yung on the other hand was touched by Ah-Hong's sincerity and, out of gratitude, accepted his love for her.

Because Ah-Hong covered up his father's crime, Yung Yung couldn't forgive him for it, and had to break with him. Ah-Kin and Ah-Shuet tried to help them but to no avail. Ah-Lap got married to Grace, and got hold of a position in Wah Yip Bank (which was his motivation for marrying her). After he got the position at the bank, he schemed to destroy the Yip family and to get back his true love, Ah-Shuet, who was already co-habiting with Ah-Kin. He constantly waited outside her office for her. In order to prevent herself from liking Ah-Lap again, she tried to tie herself to Ah-Kin by suggesting that they get married. They were already making their preparations for the wedding when Ah-Kin found out that it was actually Yung Yung who suggested the marriage and not Ah-Shuet herself. Feeling that they were not prepared and that he couldn't give her a sense of security, they decided to postpone the wedding to a later date. Ah-Lap took advantage of the situation and managed to get Ah-Shuet to accept his love again on her birthday. When Ah-Kin found out about it, he was utterly depressed and started avoiding her. When he finally decided to return home, she decided to move back to her own house. Ah-Kin, in his car, then saw Ah-Lap fetching Ah-Shuet, and tears started to flow from his eyes.

Ah-Lap continued carrying out his objective of controlling Wah Yip, managing to do so after cheating Grace again. He framed Ah-Kin for bribing two witnesses (which were supposed to be testifying against Ah-Lap) and Ah-Kin was again suspended from his job. Ah-Shuet knew that Ah-Lap was up to no good, so decided to go to Switzerland with him and never return. She wrote a letter to Ah-Kin exposing Ah-Lap's crimes, but the letter was discovered by Ah-Lap. In a heated confrontation at Fei Ngo hill, he accidentally pushed Ah-Shuet down the hill.

Yung Yung liked Ah-Kin by then but knew that he still liked Ah-Shuet. She brought him to a wishing tree to pray for Ah-Shuet's recovery and also encourages him to be strong. Ah-Kin didn't believe in the wishing tree at all. After they found out that Ah-Lap was the one who pushed Ah-Shuet down, Ah-Kin was bent on getting him behind bars. When Ah-Shuet woke up from her coma, she testified against Ah-Lap too, but the jury didn't believe her, saying that it was Ah-Kin who 'drilled' her into believing that Ah-Lap was the culprit. Ah-Shuet then became afraid of Ah-Lap. Her parents decided to bring her back to Canada, but Ah-Lap got hold of her again and locked her up in his house.

Ah-Kin was furious and decided to follow Ah-Lap's car to see where he was holding her hostage. Meanwhile, Ah-Shuet managed to free herself and ran out to a nearby telephone booth to call Ah-Kin. Ah-Kin wasn't at home, and only Yung Yung was there at his house to help him clean up the place. She immediately drove her car to fetch Ah-Shuet. Unfortunately, Ah-Lap's assistant saw them in the car and started chasing them. Yung Yung dropped Ah-Shuet down first and asked her to get help, while she herself tried to distract Ah-Lap's assistant. She thus met with an accident and became blind.

Ah-Kin knew that Yung Yung did a lot for him and decided to take care of her and accept her too. Meanwhile, Ah-Shuet, who was supposed to board a plane to return to Canada with her parents, ran off to Ah-Lap's house instead. She wanted to kill him to rid others of his evil deeds but she herself realise that she still loved him, so after stabbing him, she jumped off the building. Ah-Kin was just seconds too late and her death left him crying again in his sisters' arms.

Ah-Lap didn't die, he only suffered injuries and he vowed to make Ah-Kin pay, blaming Ah-Kin for Ah-Shuet's death. On the other hand, Ah-Lap got into trouble when an earthquake in Japan caused his property business and money to go down the drain. He was wanted by some Columbians (I think) coz he used their money to invest in the property without their permission. He then kidnapped Yung Yung and buried her in a coffin underground. Ah-Kin wanted so much to save Yung Yung and even begged Ah-Lap in the toilet, going down on his knees. However, the gunman hired by the Columbians started firing at them. He wanted Ah-Lap dead and even shot him at his head. Ah-Kin tried to prevent Ah-Lap from being shot again (coz he still haven't found out where he kept Yung Yung), and engaged in a struggle with the gunman... Suddenly the gunman fired the gun again and shot Ah-Kin in his chest!!

Ah-Bong promised to find Yung Yung for him and did just that. Now Ah-Kin had to be strong and to wake up from his coma. He recovered and wanted to see Yung Yung, but to his dismay, she left and told him that she didn't want to be a burden to him. This left Ah-Kin dejected, and he decided to set off to Perth in Australia to find her....

After 2 years, he finally returned to HK, and immediately went to the wishing tree. He then returned to the police station.... This time he is being promoted to O-Ji. Returning to the wishing tree, he said that he didn't realise how important Yung Yung was until she left.. he told the wishing tree all these.... He promised not to make her unhappy again and also not to let her go again, if a chance is given to him to meet her. Yung Yung was actually on the opposite side of the tree... She heard everything he said... As he walked away from the tree, he saw her and their eyes met ( I think her eyes are already healed by then). They then walked and hugged each other.... He told her, with tears in his eyes, now that he finally meet her, he won't let her go again... and he asked her not to leave him again. He also promised that no matter what happens, he'll take care of her the rest of his life!! One of the most touching and romantic scenes of the show, it gives people a good feeling at the end of it all.....
